    I could not agree with you more and it also seems fair of the employer to have expectations from whom theyre hiring! I would in fact commend any company willing to hire any felon of any kind when they dont have to, per-se. I have 2 felonies from age 17 and turning 18 and have had some other bumps growing up with magistrate level incidents but now its been 10 years and nothing except a traffic ticket or two since. The only hinderance I seem to have now in the hiring process are the background checks being performed by people who have never met you, spoken to you, or have any idea of your character. So like many other places in life, the job sometimes comes down to who you are on paperwork! (I actually recently applied to dollar general and have received the contingent job offer. HOWEVER, now Im waiting on someone I’ve never met now to green light the entire hiring process based off of what they find on public record) Again i respect any company willing to give “2nd chances” to anyone but i have to question why cant i start working when everyone seems pleased with me thus far and i feel good about the job?
    My suggestion? Whoever is doing the background check should also be someone candidates can meet during 1 of the 3 interviews prior to the “contingent offer” scenario, (phone interview, reg interview then managements interview per dollar general per my experience). While they might be weeding out the “bad hires” with this process, theyre also losing what could have been incredible employees at the same time..
