Massachusetts Department of Corrections: Department of corrections reentry program for the state of Massachusetts.

Boston Reentry Initiative (BRI) – The Boston Reentry Initiative (BRI) is an interagency public safety initiative that helps adult offenders who pose the greatest risks of committing violent crime when released from jail transition back to their neighborhoods. The goal of BRI is to reduce recidivism among recently released high-risk violent offenders by providing mentoring services, case management, social service assistance, and vocational development to program participants.

Community Reentry for Women (C.R.E.W.): The Community Reentry for Women (C.R.E.W.) Program prepares female offenders for re-entry through the delivery of life skills instruction, job placement and health care services. Our program partner is Project Place, a multi-service agency that specializes in providing at-risk populations with education, life skills, job skills and job placement.

Court Assisted Recovery Effort (C.A.R.E)The Court Assisted Recovery Effort helps Defendants to create and to maintain sober, employed and law abiding lives. Success in the program promotes both public safety and the rehabilitation of the defendant. C.A.R.E. involves closer supervision of a defendant and higher expectations than regular supervision, but it also offers a defendant greater assistance, opportunity and reward. The Court, the Probation Office, the United States Attorney and the Federal Defender Office all participate in C.A.R.E. in an effort to help each Defendant succeed.

Gavin Foundation Re-Entry Program: Reflecting its strong roots in helping ex-offenders re-integrate into society, Gavin Foundation works with the Massachusetts Parole Board to provide re-entry substance abuse screening, assessment, referrals and treatment for men and women leaving prisons and jails and on parole in the Boston and Greater Boston area.  Begun in 2010, the Re-Entry program makes full use of Gavin Foundation’s strong and extensive community affiliations.  It is expected to serve approximately 500 individuals each year.

Massachusetts Department of Justice: The Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) program plays an integral role in the prisoner reentry/reintegration programs at four county correctional facilities across the District, as well as juvenile reentry initiatives. These facilities employ an intensive supervision format that has been shown to result in substantially lower recidivism rates. Inmates are selected for these programs due to their criminal history and status as “impact players” (anticipated to have a substantial impact on their neighborhoods when they are released).

National HIRE Network: Massachusetts – A directory of Massachusetts organizations, which may be useful for people with criminal records in their transition back into their community.
